In 1920 "The Jest" ("Der Ehrentag") appeared in Charles H.
Baker's volume of Rejections of 1927, and "Aphorisms", tranolated
by Dorothy Alden, appeared in Plain Tank.
7. 1929 poittle Hovels
Although Simon and Schuster published only one volume of
Schnitzler's works in 1929 that one volume contained ten of the
author's best short stories,uerefully solested and done into the
best English by Gric Sutton. Five of the stories, "The Stranger",
"The Prophecy", "Redegonda's Diary", "Dead Gabriel" and "The
death of a Bachelor", had never been published in English; two had
app..ared in The Dial - "The fate of the Baron" (1923) and "The
Greek Canoing-Girl" (1921); "Andreas Thameyer's Last Letter" had
been one of the Viennese Idylla of 1913: "The Murderer" was
Chroniele (Honston, Texas), Oct. 28, 1928, - E. Wakefield.
