write such things? How can a woman have them printed?
Everyone who reads them must picture the authoress and the
neck in question, and the situation in question.
MARGARET: But I assure you that such a neck never existed.
CLEMENS: I can't picture it. That is my good fortune,
and yours, Margaret. But where did you get such ideas?
These ardent love-poems could'nt have referred to your first
husband, as you say he never understood you.
